Why is there a gap or click before each MP3 track??

Every MP3 file has at least 20 milliseconds of silence at the beginning of it. Unfortunately, this part of the MP3 format and cannot be removed. Most MP3 players remove these moments of silence automatically upon playback by cross-fading between tracks for seamless transitions.
